REQUIRED DOCUMENTS
- Original high-school graduation diploma;
- Transcript of academic record;
- Copy of passport;
- Internationally accepted English Language Certificate if available (minimum required level - B2);
- The candidates will be also video interviewed.
After all required documents are submitted and considered, the University issues a conditional acceptance letter.
THE FOLLOWING DOCUMENTS MUST BE ANNEXED TO THE APPLICATION FORM:
Copy of passport/ID document (translated into Georgian language and certified by a notary);
Copy of complete general education certificate or its equivalent and its supplement/transcript of academic record issued by a foreign educational institution (translated into Georgian language and certified by a notary);
Written consent issued by the Principal of the higher educational institution selected by a high-school graduate stating the possibility of his/her enrolment in vacant positions within the scope of the general number of students (indicating the first/last name of applicant and educational program);
A receipt proving the payment of the Foreign Qualification Recognition fee. Prices: GEL 30 for the regular procedure (30 business days), GEL 60 for the expedited procedure (15 business days), GEL 120 for 5 business days. In case of ordering a posting service, extra 5 GEL is added to the fee.
If the application is submitted by another person, a document certifying their power of attorney
ENGLISH LANGUAGE REQUIREMENT
As the medium of instruction at BAU Batumi International University is English applicants are expected to have an appropriate level of English language (Minimum B 2) knowledge. Therefore, applicants are required to provide one of the following international English Language Certificates:
- TOEFL (iBT 79),
- IELTS 6.5 (Acad.),
- FCE B,
- YDS 80,
- Pearson PTE Acad. 78,
- CAE A
BAU International University, Batumi applicants are offered to take English Language exam “BAU Proficiency” if they have required command of English but can’t provide any above mentioned international language certificates. The minimum score at BAU Proficiency exam should be 60.
All foreign applicants who cannot present any above enumerated international English Language Certificates and at the same time fail BAU Proficiency exam are registered on English language preparatory school.
VISA
Citizens of 96 countries around the world are allowed to enter Georgia and stay for 1 year visa-free. Citizens of those countries who require a visa should address to a nearby Diplomatic Mission or consular offices of Georgia in accordance with citizenship. RESIDENT PERMIT
Citizens of those countries who enter Georgia on basis of a student visa should refer to the Public Service Hall within 45 days after entering the territory of Georgia with requirement of a student residence permit. Required documents for a student residence permit:
- Filled in application form;
- Copy of a passport;
- Copy of a document proving the legal basis of staying in Georgia (in case of students copy of D3 immigrant/student visa);
- A certificate issued by an authorized higher educational institution in Georgia regarding studies (indicating duration of studies);
- Document proving legal income or a bank statement;
- Photo with size 3X4
Living in a new culture is exciting but an also be challenging. Here is some basic advice about life in the Batumi.
Although simple politeness is always expected, Georgian people like to hear 'please' and 'thank you' repeatedly! People here are very friendly but can be reserved, especially when talking to strangers. You might also like to download application or basic phrases to communicate easily.
If you are invited to someone's home for a meal it is polite to take a small gi (or example, wine, chocolates or flowers), or you could invite them to your home in return. It is considered good manners to tell your hosts in advance if you have special religious or dietary requirements.
When you are in a bank, shop or waiting or a bus you are expected to queue; stand in line and wait your turn. People can get very angry if you 'jump the queue'.
Georgian view towards sex and sexuality may be different from those in your own country. You are free to live according to your own personal standards, ethics and beliefs and not feel pressured to adopt those of any of your fellow students.
Georgia has one of the easiest ways to pay your utility or a y other bills. The whole country is full of pay boxes, where you can choose the service you would like to pay for, slide the cash and done. Easy! This way you don't need to wait in lines at a post office, bank, or any other office of the provider. You can even buy try train tickets at certain pay boxes if you spontaneously decide to travel to other parts of the country.
CLIMATE AND CLOTHING
Batumi has a warm climate thanks to it´s position next to the Black Sea. This means that it has nice temperature all year making it an all year destination. Summers can very warm, but not to hot. The average annual temperature in Batumi is around 14 degrees Celsius (57 °Fahrenheit). Rainfall in Batumi is frequent year round.
OUTERWEAR
It is better to have 3 options for outerwear:
- Something windproof — a windbreaker.
- Something warm — a winter jacket or a parka coat.
- Something in the middle, and better — waterproof.
GEORGIAN LANGAUGE
The official language of Georgia is Georgian, along with Abkhazian language in Abkhazian A/R. Georgian language is one of the oldest living language in the world. It belongs to the family of Ibero-Caucasian group. It should be noted that the Georgian alphabet is among the world's 14 alphabets and takes 5th place for its age. The majority of local people in Ajara talking in Georgian, Russian and English languages.
