The Carol Davila University of Medicine and Pharmacy is one of the leading institutions of health sciences in Europe. It was established in 1869, as the School of Medicine by the request of Prince Alexandru Ioan Cuza from Carol Davila, who became its first dean. Its name was changed to “The University of Medicine and Pharmacy Carol Davila” in 1948, it is today a public institution that plays an important role in medical education (MD) as well as research for national and international institutions (Ph.D.).
