Description

Samara State University with a medical department was founded on January 1st, 1919. In 1930 Samara Medical Institute was opened (known as Kuibyshev Medical Institute later). In July 1993 the Institute was reorganized into Samara State Medical UniversitySamara State University with a medical department was founded on January 1st, 1919. The university includes 4 institutes, more than 15 specialized diagnostics, and therapeutic centers, 14 departments, and 90 chairs. 622 members are there in teaching staff in which 14 are academicians and corresponding members of different academies, 100 are professors and PhDs, and 386 are assistant professors.
Most outstanding and the oldest chairs is Chair of Otolaryngology, Traumatology, and Orthopedics, Ophthalmology, Surgery, Pediatrics, Surgical Dentistry, and many others.
Also, there are 6 specialized committees that assess research and award degrees in specialties. The university prepared 49 Doctors of Science in Medicine, 194 Candidates of Science in Medicine during the last 5 years.
In the university, approximately 500 international students graduate every year and graduates have a high level of theoretical and practical professional knowledge. The University’s diploma is known in over 20 countries and is equal to the Diploma of Moscow State Medical Universities.
