Description

Zaporozhye State Medical University started in the year 1903 for the Women Courses composed in Odessa. Later in 1959, the college was exchanged from Odessa to Zaporozhye and was renamed to Zaporozhye Pharmaceutical Institute. By then after ten years in 1969 the name was changed to Zaporozhye Medical Institute. Lastly the organization got the status of Zaporozhye State Medical University in the year 1994. Zaporozhye State Medical University is one of the biggest medical university in Ukraine. It recognized by WHO, MCI, and many more international professional groups.

It is an institution of advanced education that trains specialists in numerous fields of knowledge and completes research. It is considered as one of the most prestigious university in Ukraine and a major centre of advanced learning and dynamic thinking. The University has formed into a huge scale, a well-managed comprehensive university with good teaching staff. It is one of those universities which is having an advanced system of education, and it trains students with the help of updated education technology of medical study. The university embraces the high-tech methods of practical medicine that empower students to be focused, competitive and flexible in the world market.


The university is providing the best infrastructure for its students and the quality facilities like good and spacious hostels, libraries, modern classrooms, etc. Moreover, the university is providing a healthy and friendly environment on the campus for its students. The institute has various other activity centers in the campus like gym, separate sports complex, etc. The University believes in the overall development of every student and thus organizes various personality development programs such as Seminars, Debates, Conferences and Student Exchange programs. Apart from personality development programs, the University organizes various sports and cultural events and also encourages students to partake in these activities.


there are 8 faculties which include Medical Faculty No. 1, Medical Faculty No. 2, Medical Faculty No. 3, two Pharmaceutical Faculties (intramural and extramural), International Faculty No. 1, International Faculty No. 2, and Faculty of Postgraduate Education. Also, the university is having a Medical college and University Clinic for 160 patients and 250 consultations at the polyclinic. At the university in 2014, there were 676 lecturers which include 120 Professors and Doctors of Sciences, 444 Associate Professors, and PhDs are engaged in scientific-pedagogic work. Among them, there is one Corresponding Member of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine, 46 members of International Academies of Sciences and International Scientific Societies, 8 Honorary Science and Engineering Workers of Ukraine, 1 Honorary worker of Higher School of Ukraine, 4 State Prize Winners, 5 Prize Winners of the Ukrainian Academy of Medical Sciences, 1 Prize Winner of National Academy of Sciences and Medical Academy of Sciences named after V.P. Komisarenko, 1 Prize Winner of the President of Ukraine, 2 Prize Winner of the Cabinet of Ministry of Ukraine, 3 Honorary Physicians of Ukraine.


One of the priority-driven universities ’ activities is to introduce computer technologies into the teaching-studying process, scientific research, and management. By the university 42, computer classrooms and 1300 PC is provided to students with academic curricula which is based on multimedia technologies and test control in the main disciplines. The university is having its own information Internet server and there is a center of telemedicine and distance learning at the university which provides the participation in international scientific conferences held on the basis of videoconference technologies, organization and holding of scientific-methods videoconferences, organization of distance refresher courses for University teaching staff by using of distance technologies in training of students by correspondence.
The university has access to the internet in all their academic building, hostels, and scientific library and also there are Wi-Fi access points at the territory of the university. As per the University security round-the-clock, the student campus is under it and also the campus and hostels are equipped with video surveillance and control.


Zaporozhye State Medical University is offering a low-cost medicine program. The university is preparing doctors for near countries, and far abroad. The principle goal of the University is to provide higher medical education for Specialist, Bachelor and Master degrees, as well as postgraduate training in internship, mastership, postgraduate study, residency and refresher courses for physicians and pharmacists. There are over 2200 international students from 40 nations at the University. 1024 students are taught in English. The University has picked up authority and recognition by training foreign citizens from Asia, Latin America, Africa, and Europe for over 40 years. Around 10500 specialists have got medical and pharmaceutical education and are working now in over 100 countries across the globe, taking up high positions in the public health systems of their countries. Students getting medical education in Ukraine are eligible to apply for International Licensing tests like USMLE (USA), PLAB (UK), MCI Screening Test and all other licensing exams around the world.
