  University of Peace Timor-Leste or UNPAZ, as it is commonly known as, was one of the many universities that emerged after Timorese independence from Indonesia in 1999.  It was founded after unresolved internal issues with UNDIL (Universidade Dili) in Masquerinhas.

COURSE DETAILS

MBBS

  The MBBS program at the university instills in Indian students a strong foundation of ethical and professional values, equipping them with the knowledge, skills, and attitudes needed to excel as compassionate and competent healthcare professionals.

  Practical training is an integral part of the MBBS program at University of Peace, Timor-Leste.  Students have access to state-of-the-art facilities and laboratories where they can hone their clinical skills under the guidance of experienced faculty members.

Duration

  The MBBS program at the University of Peace, Timor-Leste spans a total of 5 year 6 months (Including 1 year of compulsory rotational internship). This duration includes Theoretical learning and Clinical rotations, providing students with a comprehensive understanding of medical practice.

  Every student shall undergo a certified study extending over 4½ academic years divided into 9 semesters (of 6 months each) followed by one year compulsory rotating internship. Each semester will consist of 120 teaching days of 8 hrs each college working time including one hour of lunch.

Medium of Instruction

  The medium of instruction for the MBBS program at the University of Peace Timor Leste is English.  Students are required to have proficiency in English to effectively participate in lectures, discussions, and clinical rotations.

Sessions

  The academic Intake at University of Peace Timor Leste happens every September.

Scholarship

  Recognizing the importance of diversity and inclusivity, UPEACE offers various Scholarships to Indian students. Special Classes for Indian Students

  UNPAZ is proud to announce that it is completely compliant with the Foreign Medical Graduate Licentiate, 2021 (FMGL) guidelines set by the National Medical Commission of India.  UNPAZ lays extra emphasis on up-skilling students for FMGE/NExT examinations which are mandatory for the Indian students to clear before they can practice.  UNPAZ, will make sure to provide adequate training for the students to clear FMGE/NExT in the first attempt.

  The University’s Expert Adviser empowers Indian students with the right set of tools for them to harness their true potential and develop their skills.  The Adviser’s concentrated and focused effort will make sure that the students clear FMGE with ease.

   The India–UNPAZ Initiative created in 2024 as a mechanism to build and sustain partnerships between a passionate group of Doctors and Entrepreneurs from India and academics and researchers at UNPAZ acts as a hub to coordinate India-related activities across the University, and as a contact point for potential external partners. 

   Faculty Development Department of UNPAZ has recruited experienced Indian faculty members so that Students, particularly Indian students, can comfortably clear their doubts with the Indian faculty teachers who belong to their homeland.

   Students have access to Easy-to-Understand Video Lectures that cover the entire exam syllabus thoroughly.  Additionally, it also has FMGE Question Banks featuring clinical-based questions as per the latest FMG exam pattern, which is organized subject and topic-wise for increased convenience of the students.

   The College Management App, designed to act as a means of communication between Teachers, Parents, School Management, and Students helps parents to access their child’s academic progress and track their performance anytime.   Attendance, Exams, Fee, Home works, Lesson planning, Notifications, Online Feedback etc. are the key features that students and parents can avail through the app.

ELIGIBILITY & ADMISSION PROCESS

Eligibility

  The MBBS eligibility in University of Peace Timor Leste follows the NMC guidelines for admission of Indian students and is as mentioned below:

  • Students from general category must have 50% marks (PCB) in 12th/Inter/Equivalent, while reserved category candidates must have 40% marks in the same.  %.   Further, physically challenged students in general/ unreserved category get relaxation of 5%.
  • The student must have qualified NEET exam in current year or any of the previous 2 years i.e. NEET must be qualified in either in 2024/2023/2022.  This is essential for all students who wish to return to India and be eligible for appearing for FMGE/NEXT Examination.
  • The student must be of complete full 17 years (By 31st December) in the year of application to comply with the MBBS eligibility in University of Peace Timor Leste.

Admission Process

  Students can apply for MBBS admission in University of Peace Timor Leste through a simple step-by-step process as shown below:

  • Student submits scans of 10th, 12th Mark Sheets and NEET qualification (2024/2023/2022).
  • Passport size photograph. Photo should be 80% face with white background, and no shoulder.
  • Getting Admission Letter takes 4-5 working days.
  • The university will send the Contract Letter.
  • After that Invitation Letter will be sent, when you have to pay at least 1st semester Tuition fees directly to the university account.
  • University issues Admission Letter confirming MBBS admission in University of Peace Timor Leste.
  • Student submits the scans of valid Passport for issuance of Invitation Letter from University.
  • UPTL issues Invitation Letter for Study Visa formalities in India & student's entry to Timor Leste.
  • HIV Report (at the time of Visa).
  • Apply for Visa (Timor Leste Embassy takes minimum 10 days for visa processing).
  • Student submits original Mark sheets, Passport & few additional documents for Visa from embassy.
  • We assist them in currency exchange for payment on arrival or online fees transfer from India.
  • We assist them in ticket booking and plan their departure in groups, so that they travel together.
  • Our representative meets the students at airport and briefs about their trip from Delhi to Dili, Timor.
  • Our Representatives will travel with the students and ensure safe passage to the University Hostel.
  • All formalities of medical checkup, visa extension, etc. are completed by our representative in Dili, Timor Leste.

  There are many apartments around Timor Leste. Though a bit more expensive than most other forms of accommodation, they offer the best in terms of facilities. Most apartments come fully furnished with basic requirements like a bed, wardrobe, kitchen, and stove, etc.  Amenities may include bedding, bathrooms, Balcony, Elevator access, television, a couch, kitchen with furniture, to mention but a few.  Some apartments found include Villa Futo Apartments, Villa Formosa, and Brighton Apartments, to mention but a few.

Student Residence/ Dormitories

  Student dormitories offer the best in terms of facilities and convenience and are relatively cheaper than other forms of accommodation.  There are various residential colleges and student dormitories that offer accommodation for students.

Homestays

  Homestays offer the opportunity to live with Timorese families, allowing the students to participate in family social events, learn the local languages and increase knowledge of cultural and historical aspects of Timor Leste. Homestays in Timor Leste include Dilli Homestay, Olandino Fernandes  Xavier homestay, De Dotty homestay, Alto Balide, Rosa Prega, and Aquino home, to mention but a few.

Home Rentals

  Students can also rent any one of many rooms from locals in Timor Leste. This is sometimes cheaper as they can pay at once for say a month. Living conditions are normal and students can negotiate all other issues with the landlord.

  There are many shared flats in Timor Leste where students can live together with other tenants, each with their room. Some flats offer shared amenities including Kitchen, Couch, Living Area, Lounge, Bathrooms, etc.
